| | 7 September - 13 SeptemberThis week my class is working in Unit 4 of Spelling. We will have a test in Spelling on Friday. Our Story from the reading book is "The Horned Toad Prince". We will have a vocabulary test and comphension test on this story on Friday. In Science we are studying about animals and their habitats. We are still reviewing our times tables, so please work with your child at home on this skill. We are also reviewing addition and subtraction prperties and problems. We have a busy week!

| | 14 September - 20 SeptemberWe are still working on Times tables in Math. We are reviewing addition and subtraction problems also. In Spelling we will work on unit 5. In English we are still woring on sentence structure and combining sentences. In Science we are talking about animals and their habitats. We will also read about animal characteristics. We will continue in our reading book, reading the next story. Please encourage your child to read his/her AR book at home and take AR tests to meet his/her AR goal for the nine weeks. |

| | 21 September - 27 SeptemberOur reading story this week is "What Jo Did". Please study the vocabulary and story to help your child with the test on Thursday. i encourage my students to check out AR books from the Library. Please encouge your child to bring his/her book home to read to help them gain AR points and percentages. The Library is opened on Tuesday mornings for 4th graders to read and AR test. In Spelling we are doing Unit 6. This is a review of the first five units. We are finishing our English unit on sentences and starting on nouns. Please continue to reriew the multiplication tables at home with your child. We will have a writing assessment test on Tuesday. |

| | 28 September - 4 OctoberMy class will be working on unit 7 in Spelling. We are still studying the mutiplication facts and division facts in Math. Our new reading story is "Coyote School News". We will have a test in English on unit 1 Wednesday and then start a unit on nouns. We are still studying animals in Science. Our field trip will be October 20th. Please send your child's permission slip and money ASAP. |

| | 5 October - 11 OctoberOur Reading story this week is a play. There will be a test on the vocabulary and story on Thursday. Unit 8 in Spelling. There will be a spelling test on Friday. We are working with nouns in English. We are still learning about plants and animals in Science. |

| | 12 October - 18 October Our new reading story is "Marven of the Great Woods". It is a biography. Please feel free to reread the story with your child at home. I am sure you will enjoy it. Our test will come on Thursday as usual. In spelling we will work on Unit 9. We are studying nouns in English. We still drill the multiplication tables in Math. We are also learning other multiplication strategies. Don't forget our Fall Festival will be held on Friday October 16 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM. |

| | 19 October - 25 OctoberWe have a short week this week. Fall break will start on Thursday October 22nd and go through Monday October 26th. Will will do SRA and AR reading for the days we are in school. In English we will continue our study of nouns. Math will be a review of multiplication. Spelling will also be review work. The 4th grade will be going on a field trip to Athens on Tuesday October 20th. Dress your child appropriately for the weather. Have a great fall break! |

| | 26 October - 1 NovemberWhere has October gone? I hope every one had a great fall break. Now back to our studies until Thanksgiving break. We will be reading the book "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing" for the next few weeks. Spelling will continue as ususal. We are still working with nouns in English. Please review the multiplication tables with your child at home. We are learning two and three digit multiplication. In Social Studies we are studying about the Native American tribes of North America. We have an exciting quick field trip to the Knoxville Symphony on Wednesday October 28th. Please send in your bus fare and permission slip ASAP. |

| | 2 November - 8 NovemberIn reading we are still working on the book "Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing". We will study unit 11 in spelling and we are still studying nouns in English. In math we are working on harder multipliction problems. Social Studies lessons are continuing our study of Native Americans. Parent/Teacher conferences will be held Tuesday, November 3. Every child in my room will need to have a 4-H speech ready on Thursday November 5. |

| | 9 November - 15 NovemberWe have finished our book "Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing". The students enjoyed it very much. We will be working out of our reading book for a while. Our new story is "So You Want to be President". We will work on unit 13 in Spelling and finsh up our unit 2 nouns in English. In Math we are working on two digit multiplying. We are studying early explores and the first colonies in Social Studies. For the next few weeks we have a practium student in our class. She is learning to be a teacher. Her name is Ms. Hutchins. Welcome to 4th grade! |

| | 16 November - 22 NovemberOur new reading story is "The Stranger". We will take our test on the vocabulary and story on Thursday as usual. In spelling we will be on Unit 14. Our test will be on Thursday and Friday. We are studying verbs in English. Our quest to conquer multiplication is still forth going in math. In social studies we are still talking about our countries beginnings. If you missed the program on Wednesday of last week, you missed a great performance. The students did real well and the program was well received. |
